Jazz Legend Peter King holds workshop & gig at The apex

Posted 20th June, 2012

A towering figure on the jazz scene since the 1960s, Peter King has assimilated the influences of Charlie Parker and John Coltrane to become one of the most formidable alto saxophonists in all of jazz. King has played with fellow legends Bud Powell, Elvin Jones, Tubby Hayes, Max Roach, Milt Jackson, Lalo Schifrin and the Ray Charles Orchestra and can be seen at The apex on Thursday 21st June.

He is a composer of distinction (with a special interest in Bartok), an incendiary improviser and his in-person performances continue to astonish. His 2011 acclaimed autobiography Flying High is one of the great documents of the jazz life.

?The finest alto saxophonist that Britain has ever produced, and one of the finest in the world today? The Observer.
