Beverley Craven stripped down at the apex!

Posted 12th October, 2011

Beverley Craven, one of the most successful singer / songwriters the UK has ever produced, calls in at the apex on Wednesday 19th October.

Award winning singer Beverley Craven became a household name in the early 90's with the release of her eponymous debut album which became a worldwide hit, selling more than two million copies. Her 1991 single, 'Promise Me', went on to become a huge hit across Europe and she followed this up with a string of chart successes including 'Memories', Holding On' and 'Woman To Woman'

In 1992 Beverley received a Brit Award for Best British Newcomer and was also nominated for Best British single and album of the year. Her second album, 'Love Scenes', released in 1993, reached number 4 in the UK album charts, and spawned the hit singles 'Love Scenes' and 'Mollie's Song'.

In 2004 she returned with a handful of live concert appearances, but the following year received devastating news when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following treatment she was finally given the all-clear the following year. Looking back on her illness Beverley says, "In many ways it has been a positive thing, it has given me a new lease of life. It's made me realise I just need to get on and do stuff that I enjoy. I had no interest in sitting in front of the piano for a long time. I completely lost that vibe, but now it's back and I'm going out and giving it my best. "

To date Beverley has sold more than 4 million albums worldwide and ?Promise Me? is still played all over the world ? a true test of longevity and of its continued popularity.

Beverley is back on the road with a ?stripped down and laid bare? duo line up, featuring her superlative saxophone player (who admits to feeling very exposed!). Currently working on her forthcoming acoustic album, she will be performing songs about life, love, liberation and libido? This latest collection of songs shows that she has lost none of her ability to sing from the heart about the things that truly touch her: ?her strength is in her vulnerability - she sings about subjects that people can relate to?.

This is guaranteed to be an evening of stunning musicianship coupled with poignant sentiments and sharp wit.

Tickets for the event are £16 (with £14 concessions) available from the apex Box Office on 01284 758000 or online HERE
